Review
What is a review?
A review means that a decision by a prosecutor is reviewed by a Director of Public Prosecution or Deputy Director of Public Prosecution. A review may lead to the decision being changed or it may be deemed that the original decision was correct and there is no reason to change it. In exceptional cases, a decision may be reviewed by the Prosecutor General.
Reviews and examinations of decisions are handled in writing.

How do I request a review?
- A request for a review must be submitted in writing. Please use the form Request for Examination of a Police Decision/Review of a Prosecution Decision.
- The completed form can be submitted by email. An oral request to review/examine a decision will not normally be granted.
- A request for a review/examination must be clear and complete on submission. If the request lacks the necessary information, the case will not normally be reviewed. It is not generally possible to supplement a request at a later date. You should therefore ensure that your request is complete upon submission.
- A request for review must be submitted to the local public prosecution office where the decision was made. A list of addresses can be found on the contact page.
Who can request a review?
Usually only those involved in the case, i.e. the victim of or the person suspected of committing the crime, can request a review.
Can a decision made by the police be changed by a prosecutor?
